I'm a proud AA member for 9 years and 5 months and very grateful for recovery. as a black man Ive seen and experienced some bias type ways in different 12 steps environments. it seems in mostly white meetings(and some mostly black attendee meetings) where ive always been welcome with open arms they are so outspoken about so many different things thats not always AA related but if I a black man start sharing something that may be of the same content that a white counterpart shared it seems like the enviroment gets very concerned about why would I say such thing.
maybe that stereotype that gets so automatically thrown my way in the outside world doesnt shy away in the rooms it's just done with a bit of sincerity. that needs to be fixed.
